For some reason there is a section of Mare Street that has several Vietnamese restaurants and supermarkets. Green Papaya came highly recommended and lived up to it. My wife loved her Pho and the veggie spring rolls were excellent, they serve Saigon beer and, for some unknown reason, a reasonable bottle of Albariño. What Paul Butler doesn't like about Green Papaya:
very unobtrusive. raw chicken salad had to be sent back. we asked ourselves instead for spicy garnelensalat. it was cloaking and red twirl. no seasoning. the braided fish was the worst I ever ordered. the grilled meat dish was ok. service was incredibly slow and unapologetic. The Mount Qi pork noodles are a classic. Best comfort food in the area.
Great place, friendly service. Definitely book on a Saturday as they were having to turn people away.
A mix of Vietnamese and Chinese cooking fresh hand made noodles is the house the specialty. Favourite things to order: the chicken wings the Dan Dan noodles!
Best Vietnamese food in all the land of Uk. Delicious! Lovely staff.
This was an overall great experience. The place busy and the food was great (especially the green papaya salad).
