Gorgeous, no-nonsense food (in sight of the eponymous turnips! with a brilliantly intimate atmosphere from its proximity to the market. The service was elegant too, but in an entirely unpretentious atmosphere which was perfect for a Christmas lunch. Will definitely be coming again! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Turnips With Tomas Lidakevicius, Small Plates:
The one good server who knew what she was going seemed to have to service the whole floor, while other people floated around and avoided all eye contact. Very, very slow service for everything and a lack of knowledge except for the one fore-mentioned server. Food was ok, nothing special. All in all an unmemorable visit which is a shame as it definitely has potential. View all feedback.
Bob and I treated our two women at their birthday in a night to remember. eating was as expected incredible, tasting dishes included scallop, venison, blood orange and yorkshire rhubarb. the star for me and please keep it on the menu was the cevenne wobbler - who knew that a wobbly could taste so incredible. the service under the line of will the manager was impeccable. brilliant atmosphere and it looked like everyone enjoys themselves. what a great night, many thanks!
We were intrigued by the online menus and booked a 5 course tasting lunch. Each dish was spectacularly good delicious flavours from unusual ingredients. Good wine flights too. They deserve to do well but leave room for us ‘cos we’ll be back soon!
Amazing as always. Hidden gem. Always something new on the menu. Looking forward to be back.
Superb food, service and atmosphere. A real gem of a location. Recommend the wine pairing with the tasting menu.
Food was superb. I like my fine dining treats a few times a year and this was as good as anywhere I’ve been. The service was chatty and friendly with a good wine list. I had a glass of the red Rioja with the quail starter lamb main and it worked perfectly. Mrs had the scallops starter and veggie main and was v impressed and she eats out much more often than me. A unique ambiance, with trains passing overhead and some essential heaters and blankets, made this a fun, very memorable experience. We shared the blood orange dessert and it was, as with the rest of the food, beautifully balanced. Definitely coming back with friends.
