one of the best restaurants I was in london. large menu options and service. starter and main thing full of fresh seasonal vegetables. the menu changes depending on the season. very beautiful interieur. very recommended choice next to the train station herne hill. 40-50£ per person with appetizer, head and dessert. on the photos: kabeljau with pink radishessort, trout with artichokes, kartoffels and sellerie, orange... What Giulio C doesn't like about Llewelyn's:
The food was mostly disappointing, and for £45 per person for two courses including water, I expected better. My starter of cavolo nero was undercooked, and my main of pork belly consisted mostly of a large piece of fat, with a small portion of meat and a side of very basic vegetables. One of my dining companions enjoyed their meal, but that was just one out of four. I definitely won’t be returning. It's a shame beca... View all feedback.
Amazing food and an even more impressive deserts! Highly recommend!! Located stones throw away from herne hill station, this restaurant is an amazing addition to the area. I was lucky enough to attend in a group which allowed us to be adventurous with our ordering. To start off with we had our friendly waitress recommend a wine for the table and a coffee for Myself to start. Starters: mussels and Cider which were incredible and a change to the usual pairing of wine based sauce. The Bread was the star of the show here. Mains: The Seven hour Lamb will leave you speechless. I don't know how they were able to plate it up, as it just fell off the bone. Paired with the potato dauphinoise, you can't lose. The Pork and the Beans were refreshing contrast to the slow cooked Lamb. I hope they keep this on the menu as it is guaranteed to be a spring and summer favourite. Dessert: You will struggle to choose from this incredible selection. The crème Brulee and Bread and butter pudding with Cholocate were my personal Favorites. We were left wanting to lick our plates by the end. Make sure you leave some room for dessert as you will doing yourself a disservice to not try something sweet from here. Overall, we had an incredible dining experience in a lovely atmosphere with attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommended for a date or groups so you can be as adventurous as we were.
Superb anniversary meal! Delicious dishes and great service. We went on a Tuesday and were a bit worried it might be empty with no atmosphere but it wasn't at all
The lunch menu today was very disappointing. A globe artichoke starter turned out to be a small half with very little flesh on the leaves and a rather sickly combination of flavours. The delightful waiter swopped this for a delicious trout tartar. For our second course I had a very well cooked portion of Guinea fowl with bread sauce…there was nothing like traditional bread sauce on my plate but there was a brown puddle that seemed to have an anchovy flavour. The whole thing was very rich yet strangely there were no carbs to balance it. My companion had plaice with red onion which turned out to be an enormous fish served skin side up with the head on…the skin resembling what it would have looked like raw. Extremely unappetising and she had to send it back as the sight of it made her feel unwell. The puddings were fine, service delightful but food combinations very strange indeed.
Regular customer, awesome food and lovely service. The mains are rather large and work well as shared plates. We often forget and end up quite full. Everything is delicious and love to see the menu changing over time. The cocktails are also really interesting and delicious.
Visited twice over the last couple of months. Food’s really good! However, on two occasions the service felt rushed. I get that you want to be efficient, but if you don’t tell staff you want breaks, you end up eating a 3 course meal in 40 min. Please slow down and let people enjoy their dining slot with you.
