I would like to express my gratitude to the manager, Adam, and all the staff at the restaurant. We visited multiple times during our weekend stay and were consistently greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Special thanks to Adam for the complimentary bubble glasses, it was a nice touch. We hope to visit again soon. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Haxells Restaurant And Bar Strand Palace:
Five of us went to the restaurant as a group, but we were initially only offered a table for four. The menu did not match what was shown on the website, but there were many choices available. The portions for the starters were quite small, with one example being a tuna starter that only had a very thin layer of tuna. View all feedback.
Waiting staff could be more attentive given the service fee they are added to the bill. the food and drinks were beautiful.
Before we started our break, I checked the menu on the line and it had steak on it. at the table I ordered the steak and my wife ordered laughs. we said they didn't have any laughs anymore, but they had fish and chips, so my wife ordered this. I was told that they didn't make a steak and it must have been an old menu I looked at. to cut a long story short, we both ended up with a burger who was not very tasty and both left the largest part of it. all in all, we paid 75 pounds for something we didn't like.
Although not an extensive menu, the food was to die for! Beautifully presented, lovely staff!
We were really excited to find somewhere to book that could accommodate both Vegans and Gluten Free members of our party. However there seems to be poor communication between the serving staff and the kitchen. The items which came out did not correspond at all with what was on the menu, or if they did we couldn't identify them and neither could our waitress. It made it uncomfortable as we then could not be confident our food was vegan or gluten free. Additionally we had other allergies at the table, one of which was avoided as we identified it in time. The second of which was not and this caused a rather unpleasant situation. We informed the staff of this after paying as feedback and the manager informed us that the allergy could not have been triggered in their kitchen and that we must effectively be lying. With better communication between the kitchen and wait staff and better training for the waitstaff, this would have been a more pleasant experience.
Despite clearly stating my allergy needs I was served food containing allergens. The manager said he could clearly see I was having a reaction and even as I vomited in the toilets they denied serving me food I could not eat. Also what was served for afternoon tea did not match the menu. Staff didn't seem to know what was going on. Would have been 0/10 if I could,
