While the decor is warm and inviting, and the staff are notably friendly, the limited lunch menu and overly salted dishes may leave diners wanting. Many found the food lacking authentic Italian flavors, with some items like risotto and cheesecake failing to impress. Yet, patrons also praised the attentive service and creative wine selections, making it a great spot for casual gatherings, especially for wine enthusiasts. Overall, it reflects a wine bar more than a true Italian restaurant, leaving mixed sentiments.
I met a former colleague here after a Friday night. the place was packed to the happy, the person I was with had the foreseeable to book a table we sat at the end of a long common table that wanted us less private sphere than I wanted. Nevertheless, our glasses of barbera and gavi arrived quite quickly, which calms the pain we did not want to eat there, but the people next to us were on a dish cured meat that triggered our appetite. we ordered the ravioli (which I did not try, but my friend assured me that it was divine) together with the calamari and a teller burrata. everything was tasty the service was friendly even if...read more
On Friday after work I went to st. pauls to meet my friend only we went in madison’s bar (which has great prospects. we then decided to look somewhere else to drink a drink where we could eat. nat and I love tapas and after we went together earlier in madrid, we wanted to go and have a glass of wine and some snacks. we stumbled on a small little weinbar, which is below watling street called enoteca da luca', which lives from the motto piccolo e bella', which means small is beautiful', and they are certainly right it is very similar to a Spanish tapas bar, but with a pronounced Italian twist. they use local products and serve a selection of crying from the...read more
I love Italian food. And this was not Italian. I had the risotto and it was so unseasoned and tasted of nothing. In a normal Italian they would offer you Parmesan... there was practically none on the plate. Even the olives at the start didn’t taste of much. The bread was nice. I had the cheesecake to finish and it seriously tasted of whipped mascarpone. Not very yummy for a sweet. I can’t say the service was that good either. This definitely much more of a wine bar than a restaurant.
Fabulous food, divine service. Wonderful little treasure in the heart of the City.
Food was very nice and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
