We arrived a little early and so we went to the bar and had a fabulous cocktail each-both a little original and very enjoyable and the bar team were helpful in deciding. The tasting menu was outstanding and each course was incredibly tasty and went well with a glass of white and then a glass of red wine. We unusually returned to the bar after the meal and the second cocktail was just as impressive. View all feedback.
What Charles Jackson doesn't like about Black Roe:
eating was very disappointing, all dishes had a similar taste, nothing exciting or adventurous. the lamb dogs were marked as a main dish and cost £18 pound something, and when they came out there were 2 small pieces lamb with some granat apple seeds, I don't know how to classify this as a main dish? and the same with this dish, quite uninspiring aromas. if that was the half of the price, my review would be much more... In a case of a mistaken identity (I actually remember that I am dealing with them for something. I received an email to stuart, which offers me the opportunity to sample her new tasting menu at 50% discount. after reading the divine menu, I could not help but arrange an appointment. I used my real name and there were no problems so I feel less about a lalatan. in addition a few days before the night, I saw that they were the same deal for the public for the 2 weeks after this VIP special.
Anyone who asks me for a restaurant recommendation, for the foreseeable future, is directed to black roe. they may remember that I recently fell in love with chotto matte, good black roe is their sister restaurant and it is incredible. eating is a mix of Japanese/Hawai cuisine and it's all in an ultra trendy dining room in mayfair that plays deep house beats while they eat. sounds perfect, right?
In the last 8 years I have had luck organizing a surprise for my birthday, of course the fact that I have married the man who is behind the surprises, means that they will hopefully stay for more and more!. in this year I was asked to meet mr r in oxford circus train station, we went 5 minutes on the road to mill street and in true mr R style, his sight of confusion led to me, the restaurant that I thought he could look.
I love poke! I tried it a long time ago in hawaii and it was immediately my favorite Hawaiian food (yes, not spam! . it seems as if poke had finally moved into the united kingdom, even a few years later, when it became a trend in the usa, and seems to spread out quickly throughout the city with several poke-centric spots like black roe and ahi poke. the vibe at ahi poke is great and some of the dishes were delicious, but their signature poke could use some work.
It was almost two years ago now that I totally fell in love with the food at Jordan Sclare’s first restaurant Chotto Matte, a super-cool Nikkei restaurant in Soho. My admiration for Jordan’s cooking and the fact that Hawaiian food is something rarely found in London meant that I was intrigued to try his new restaurant, Black Roe.
