My girlfriend and I went to Calenda for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The restaurant offers a complete breakfast for €9 per person, which is a little overpriced for what you get: two eggs, fries, two very greasy bacon strips and a sausage. It comes with a small glass of orange juice and a coffee. Although the food was reasonably tasty, the service offered was horrendous. It was among the absolute worst experiences I have ever endured in a restaurant anywhere in the world. There were no more than a dozen clients in the restaurant but the three servers looked easily overwhelmed. The female server made an extraordinary amount of noise behind the counter as she shuffled roughly through the plates and mugs. It felt as if she purposely made excessive noise to drive us away. She also had a hard time saying hello and acknowledging our presence. The male server was not much better. We had to ask him three times to make our cafes con leche and he seemed bewildered by our repeated request. We were also made to wait several minutes to pay and had to twice ask for the credit card machine. Amazing that we have to chase the staff to pay our bill! Overall, a very poor experience. If it wasn 't for the food, I would rate this restaurant zero stars out of five. A shame given that the restaurant is well located and certainly has potential but the service staff is ruining it. I must say my general opinion of Logroño restaurants and bars is aligned with this review but Calenda was the worst of the lot.

Arrived and staff very friendly. Free WiFi. Order the mixed salad, chicken with Orange sauce and water. The mixed salad was mixed greens, tuna, eggs and tomatoes. Think a saw a piece of strawberry. Ask for butter when salad arrived. Tried to ask again when 2nd course arrived. It hit the table and he was gone. The French fries or chips were overcooked and crunchy. The chicken breast was three (3) thin slices overcooked and dry. The Orange Sauce didn't have but a very slight orange flavor which was disappointing. Order the Quesada pasiega (homemade cheesecake)it came with a small drizzle of maybe BlackBerry sauce on the side. Sauce gone before cheesecake. Good. Back ground music a little loud Spanish and USA mixture. Never got the butter and it appeared less than 15 tables of customers inside and patio. 12 Euro.
