A typical tourist trap in the hotspot of Lodz. Prices are absurdly high for the standards of the city. The restaurant is vast and given a fake traditional esthetic. Staff was fakely friendly View all feedback.
Great place. Very tasty food. Very fast service. Wide offer. There are also traditional dishes, we ate them. Portions are large. I really recommend it.
I first visited Galicja in September 2022. My waitress was a young blond girl, maybe around 18 or 20 years old. Myself being from the United States, she spoke English extremely well and understood our dialect. I looked over the menu and chose a couple items for starter and dinner. I asked her for a recommendation on a drink and she told me what she liked. Ok, I’ll try that. It was a good choice. During my time in Łódź this specific visit, I went to Galicja two more times. My last time, I had the same waitress. She remembered me and what I ordered. She also knew the menu well enough that she was able to quickly flip through the menu and show me what I liked, including the drink. Fast forward to February 2023. Once again I was visiting Łódź, and two more times I ate at Galicja. Both times I had the same blonde waitress, and again she provided amazing service. And again, she remembered me. In fact, at the end of February when I made my last visit, she just looked at me and asked if I was having my usual, then flipped through the menu and pointed out what I wanted. She was even kind enough on my very first and very last visit to take a picture with my guests and me. Now the food. Given I had the same thing every time I was there, I cannot comment on the menu as a whole. But the Hungarian Goulash and the pirogies were beyond amazing. In fact, I told my wife that she’s going to have to learn how to make pirogies the way Galicja makes them. The environment is very comfortable and intimate. We are downstairs every time. The location is pretty good too. It’s outside the Manufactura mall far enough away from heavy foot traffic. Parking is a little bit of a walk, but the area is beautiful and worth walking. If I ever return to Łódź, I will, without a doubt, return to Galicja.
If you’re in Łódź and want to try some polish food, this place is for you! We had several starters, chicken salad, the potato pancakes with the different types of goulash and the pork knuckle all excellent! Can only recommend. Portions are very generous. Only downside was that staff could’ve been more attentive at times. When we wanted to order more drinks we had to wave quite a few times and felt a bit ignored on purpose. Atmosphere is lovely as it’s located inside the manufaktura which has lovely lighting during the evening anyway.
