We were in search of a dinner spot near the wineries and found just the place. Dan, our server, was fantastic. We visited on a Sunday night, so it wasn't overly crowded. For the past three years... View all feedback.
What Shea Zemlak doesn't like about Dano's Heuriger On Seneca:
We arrived and were greeted by a woman—who we later learned was the owner—who simply asked, "Name?" without any kind of greeting. After a couple of minutes, she instructed us to, "Follow me..." View all feedback.
Excellent food, an unusual Heuriger variety of spreads from Austria, plus excellent fish, sausages, and other side dishes that are traditionally Austrian German. Their desserts are also always fresh and flavorful and delicious. Portions are always generous resulting in a carry away after a filling and satisfying. Overall I’ve eaten at Dano’s over 20 times across a decade and never been anything but extremely satisfied Parking: Always easy to park and access the restaurant even for disabled people like me Wheelchair accessibility: Gravel parking lot and walkway easy to navigate. Handicap friendly bathrooms. Usually ample seating on an upper level. Lower level not easily accessed however.
Everything was wonderful, except the service. Server was extremely slow. Watched other tables with different servers being served while we just waited and waited. Parking: Unmarked, small gravel lot. People taking up two spaces at once.
The place is cute and seems to have lots of potential. The staff was overall friendly but they seemed incredibly unorganized and scattered. Cocktails were good. We ordered 3 spreads and some bread and it took insanely long for them to get to our table. Our server was MiA for so long we had to ask someone else why we were waiting so long. The patio was full but the dining room was only half full so being overwhelmingly busy couldn’t have been why it was so slow. We waited equally long for our meals to arrive. The catfish looked good but it desperately needed salt. The potatoes were okay. The cabbage salad was the best thing on the plate. The Farmers plate had major potential. The smoked pork chop was good. The sausage (i forget which one) was okay. They managed to produce 2 pieces of pork belly that lacked any definitive flavor. The kraut was good but there was so much of it, and it was dumped on top of everything so all the components of the dish struggled to shine through the over powering flavor of the kraut and the pool of broth/juice that everything was swimming in. We probably would have stuck around for dessert and coffee but we got so annoyed with how slowly everything was paced, we just needed to cash out and go home. Lots of potential but poorly executed food and incredibly slow and inattentive service were huge negatives tonight. This place has insanely great reviews so maybe it was an off night?
Great food with friendly staff and an amazing location.
Simply wonderful. My husband and I came here for a romantic dinner on the patio and we were not disappointed. The view over the lake was lovely. Our server hit that perfect blend of attentive and relaxed and efficient. We had one of the spreads as an appetizer, the goulash of the day, the wienerschnitzel with knödel and spicy sauerkraut, and for dessert apple cherry strudel and decaf coffee. Everything was delicious, and the goulash especially was ridiculously good. A memorable night!
