decided to finally try Market Street Cafe for our daughter's birthday and it was perfect. Delicious freshly prepared food, wonderful friendly service, just a culinary atmosphere joy. Birthday child even received a selection of her choice desert! View all feedback.
What David Kim doesn't like about Market Street Cafe:
I had the brunch so I had a variety of battered, scrambled, sauteed, steamed proteins and vegetables to sample. For my taste they're heavy-handed with salt. You be the judge. View all feedback.
Market Street Cafe is a hidden gem in Lockhart, Texas. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is excellent. I had the chicken fried steak, and it was the best I've ever had. The meat was tender and juicy, and the breading was crispy and flavorful. The gravy was also amazing, and it was the perfect complement to the steak. [Image of Chicken fried steak, Market Street Cafe, Lockhart, Texas] The sides were also great. I especially loved the mashed potatoes and the green beans. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth, and the green beans were perfectly The atmosphere at Market Street Cafe is warm and inviting. The restaurant is decorated with vintage Coca-Cola signs, and there is a jukebox playing classic country music. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they make you feel right at home. Overall, Market Street Cafe is a fantastic restaurant that I would highly recommend to anyone. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is charming, and the staff is great. I will definitely be back!
Updated 10/20/2023: Today, for lunch, we decided to opt for exceptional food over atmosphere . So here we are at Market Street Cafe again. The food was definitely exceptional, as it always is, and the consistent excellence is one reason this restaurant always seems to come to mind. We also had the added benefit of gaining more insight into why this restaurant changed locations, the main thing that I did not like when they moved. (We had always loved the more intimate and upscale feel of the previous location . I completely understand their reasons for relocating, though I do remain a fan of more cozy, relaxing and atmospheric restaurants. If you want incredibly delicious food and really friendly and attentive staff, you would love this place. I 'm glad we came by again, and, if we really want great food, we 'll most likely head on over here. Pro Tip: Be sure to peruse the menu online before you go. The menus are on large TV screens and if you are old(er like us, lol, by the time you page through the pages on the screen, you 've forgotten what was on the first few pages. Previous review: (I had previously left a 5 star review for this restaurant. It was a lovely little place with outstanding food. The location was a lot of what gave it character and made it special. It was a place I really liked to take friends to for lunch. But things have changed. They have changed location and what made the location special no longer exists. The food is still excellent, but the experience is like eating at a diner, not an upscale food establishment, and it is not relaxing at all. I would not take friends out to eat here as a special treat. We will most likely not go out of our way to go here again.
The best food I've had in Texas, I'm a huge fan and stop by any chance I get!
Never seen such an amazing menu variety…I had Crawfish Pasta…don’t miss it because it is in a strip shopping center.Awesome!
A true hidden gem in Lockhart! Definitely worth the road trip from surrounding cities if you appreciate good food and fresh ingredients. Especially the complimentary homemade Pickle bar! We drove in from Austin and will absolutely make the drive again!
