we decided so by chance to try to dine on a boat.. we are of the place we have always passed before but we never entered. The menu is simple. You don't get lost in complicated choices. The place is very cozy and intimate and from the very absence of being on board. The new management and fantastic.. we have pampered served and revered. I agree with our request. . The food was delicious. nothing special, but quite ok for if you want to eat something when you are in locarno. in all cases no tourist traps like so many others in locarno. Price/performance is in order. the service is friendly and attentive. this ship also serves well as a place for an apéro before the food. the fish is a little too expensive.
The balena is no longer available. after slow dying this beautiful location, the name has now been abandoned. it is now called tyrell’s and is thus also created here at tripadvisor. it is now part of the feldpausch group, which already successfully lead several restaurants.
I stayed at this place with friends on Saturday night. the local proposed a pizza tour all you can eat at 20 chf, all in all price suitable for food and service offered, which turned out a little slow, but certainly friendly and professional. the place built inside an old bar with bar with a dismissed is really particular and very welcoming. extraordinary view of the lake major even in the evening. I give four stars simply because of the service understandably slow, as it seemed to be managed by a single guy. very nice evening ending with karaoke and shot offered by the house.
I don't know if I'm in a difficult mouth or if that day the chef was at home and they cooked the waiters but the meat I took was really unmangiant and with it also the side dish, potatoes baked that if it was not x half a kilo of butter that made them float they didn't know of anything and the raw heels! The hard meat, poor horse died unnecessarily, both I and my friend x have advanced it. No no no x regarding the dishes and the kitchen x what I tried I don't feel like recommending it. Of course, if we talk about the place, I say it's spectacular, because of its originality and sight, even if I want to be lazy, I would change something inside, there was something in the furniture that made it too anonymous and boring. Promote the location and idea of making a restaurant on a boat but rejected everything else.
We were the 3rd time in the balena and compared to our visits in the summer we were happy this time. the food offer is no longer so large and has been adapted in general. eating was very tasty and also in service we have seen new, friendly faces. we hope that the balena will again be, as we have met a year ago
