Delicious! traditional Catalan cuisine specialized in Snails. Full of flavor. We also tried the pig feet, sausages and a delicious dessert Cuajada . The staff is really nice and many menú options. Most of the menu is made on BBQ Pit with that Charcoal flavor
This is where the locals come for the best Catalan food a la brasa . From succulent quail to rabbit, if it runs round a field you 'll find it here even if it crawls, such as the snails in salt and brandy which are a house speciality. Best time to go is March/April when calcots are on the menu. These are long onions charred over the grill that you strip and eat with romesco sauce while wearing bibs and gloves; as theatrical as they 're delicious.
We enjoyed the excellent catalan and Lleida specialities such as escalivada (grilled pepperoni and aubergines), brandada (smooth cod preparation), grilled snails with allioli, grilled meats and excellent classical desserts like crema catalana, with very good Costers del Segre wines. The restaurant is a bit old fashioned in decoration, outside the city, but a must of great local food taste.
Been to this Restaurant a few times and the car park is always full (of expensive cars) This is your typical local Catalan restaurant a hidden secret. Get there at 2pm and you will be the first, by 3pm it is full. One of the waiters speaks very good English, so don't worry about the language barrier. Local Snails are a common speciality in Spain and certainly the ones they sell here are excellent. Don't miss the Calecots it's a fresh long spring onion that's been cremated on the bbq. It's served with a bib and gloves to stop the burnt outside from going on your clothes. Pinch the bottom of the onion and pull from the top a clean, fresh delicious soft onion string comes out which you then dip in a lovely tomato, spicy sauce it's just fresh and excellent. BBQ Aubergines come with a great sauce. Breads, Hams, Jumbo Prawns and Langoustines are all served fresh. The steaks are top quality. The running order in this Catalan restaurant is lots and lots of starters, all the things above, plus the steak on it's own at the end. Drink Beer with the starters and a bottle of Ribera Del Duero with the main courses and steak. Be careful at the end of the meal the waiters will bring you a coffee and ask if you want an aperitif they will leave the whole bottle of gin or whisky for you to help yourself. Given that it is often 40 degrees in the afternoon in Lerida during most of the year this can be a dangerous finish to an excellent meal in this excellent restaurant.
