Nice food, inevitably slightly more expensive given its location but excellent views across the bay. Recommended.

Hotels were marked on the map, but would they be op... read more We were staying in Llanes but decided to walk the coastal path to Playa de Poo.a few kilometres to the west. Hotels were marked on the map, but would they be open? We arrived at Playa de Poo about 12:30 on a lovely warm day coastal scenes were really good and yes, the terrace restaurant at the Hotel Rocamar overlooking the creek was open, so we ordered a few drinks. Really the setting is exceptional. After a drink we decided we would have lunch there. We hastily reserved a table and were led to a table in the shade of trees but still retaining the fantastic view. We ordered more drinks and one of the special seafood pasta. Within half an hour we were presented with a large paella pan with our order, pasta cooked in fish stock, with five different types of sea food in it. We were not sure if we could eat it all, but we simply had too, it was so delicious. This restaurant is fantastic, and the staff are wonderful, and so friendly and helpful. I do hope that I will return there one day. I know I would not be disappointed.

Whilst this TA listing is for the restaurant (there doesn’t appear to be a listing for the hotel), it is worthwhile noting that the hotel has comfortable simple tastefully decorated rooms that are very clean. This is a return visit from 11 years ago. We were passing nearby on our current holiday in Spain and we recalled the lovely hospitality, and location of the hotel and the terrace bar that spills onto the beach, so decided to return. Eva warmly welcomed us again and we are pleased to see that Rocamar is still in her family. Now for the food. We enjoyed all the food we had, seafood and meat, and deserts; good flavours abound and appropriate for the dish. It has no pretensions for being fine dining, but you certainly get good tasty food to be enjoyed on this lovely terrace setting overlooking the beautiful Playa da Poo. The waiter (German we think) was quite a character who added some jovial theatrics to each evening. He was quite proactive and we observed that he even brightened one couple’s mood after they had an argument. Eva was always there to help us with any question or assistance we needed. Lastly, we noted that many locals use the terrace bar as a late afternoon meeting place for drinks after a swim and their relaxing time with friends helped create a good vibe on the terrace. We loved our time at Rocamar using it as a base for walks, drives and then enjoyable evenings drinking and eating while the sun sets over the cove.

Fantastic view across Po’o beach, great way to spend the afternoon after the morning in the beach. Trip advisor seems to have the restaurant in the wrong location, 3 km from where it actually is.

Bagged a table overlooking Playa De Poo, which offers a stunning vista from which you can chomp down your lunch (we ate the sea bass, which was 5/5) and neck a crisp beer. Our waitress couldn't have been friendlier, despite my toddler enjoying a couple of noisy meltdowns during our lunch. We also popped into the adjacent restaurant on the beach and was greeting by the most miserable lady this side of Theresa May. Avoid there and dine here!
