Five Girls Baking - Liverpool

My husband and I recently completed a 600-mile tandem bike tour around Nova Scotia. Being vegan, I relied heavily on Happy Cow to plan our meals in advance. Although we are not strict vegans, we made sure to find vegan-friendly options wherever possible. We arrived in Liverpool just before 4 pm, hoping to visit a vegan-friendly store before it closed. We managed to grab some delicious homemade ginger carrot soup and a vegan shepherds pie by the Canadian woman-owned company, Boosh, for dinner. Since we were traveling by bicycle and most hotels lacked cooking facilities, we had to make do with just a microwave. The shepherds pie, which was meant to be cooked in an oven for the perfect crust, did not turn out as well in the microwave. However, the flavor was still enjoyable. We also picked up some cinnamon rolls for breakfast the next morning, as we needed to head out early before the store opened.

This charming bakery and shop is owned by a very friendly owner. They offer scrumptious vegan sourdough bread, as well as a variety of unique imported and locally sourced items. During my visit, they had a selection of vegan cheese and meats, including options from Real Fake Meats. Although they previously sold vegan cookies, it seems they may no longer offer them due to low sales. Overall, a great place to find a variety of goodies.

We made a detour to Liverpool to visit a vegan-friendly restaurant before they closed at 4pm. We arrived at 3:45pm and enjoyed some delicious homemade ginger carrot soup and a vegan shepherd's pie from a Canadian woman named Boosh. Since we were traveling by bike and staying in hotels without cooking options, we only had access to a microwave. The shepherd's pie was meant to be cooked in an oven for a better crust, but despite that, it still tasted great. We also picked up some cinnamon rolls for breakfast to go, as we were hitting the road early the next morning before the restaurant opened.
