While some patrons applauded the delicious meals and attentive service, highlighting their standout breakfast and scrumptious Scouse, others voiced concerns over cleanliness, particularly the state of the restrooms. Customer service experiences were notably mixed, with some staff members receiving praise for their friendliness, while others fell short of expectations. Despite the inconsistencies, many appreciate the pub's welcoming vibe, reasonable prices, and great drink options. Overall, The Shakespeare remains a mixed bag, leaving guests pondering their next visit with hope for improvement.
I ordered the vegetarian breakfast, but they brought real sausages without explaining that they had run out of vegetarian sausages. The eggs were the worst I have ever eaten and instead of English muffins, they brought untoasted bread. The Hollandaise sauce was thick and overdone, drowning the uncooked bread and making the eggs runny. The breakfast sandwich was just two hard pieces of toast without butter. However, the staff was very friendly and the restaurant felt clean. Overall, there is potential for improvement to make this a nice place, but it is not there yet.
A few friends and I recently visited The Shakespeare for breakfast on a Sunday before catching our train. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the restaurant and were quickly seated and greeted. The breakfast menu was promptly brought to us, and we ordered a mix of hot and cold drinks which arrived promptly at our table. The food was delicious and arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. The prices were very reasonable, with a large breakfast and drink costing no more than £12. The service was excellent, with the waitress being very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be returning when we are back in Liverpool. Thank you for a great experience!
One of the missing meals was eventually brought out, but it was a meat dish instead of the vegetarian option that had been ordered. When we pointed this out to a staff member, they were incredibly rude and dismissive, claiming that they did not make mistakes. Despite showing them the menu and the order, they refused to acknowledge their error and did not offer to replace the incorrect dish. Eventually, another staff member stepped in and handled the situation professionally, providing a refund for the missing meals. It was clear that the initial mistake was a simple misunderstanding that could have been easily resolved. It was disappointing that the rudeness and unprofessional behavior of one staff member overshadowed the positive experiences we had with the rest of the team.
We went to the shakespeare looking for food and seeing the city game. Unfortunately, the kitchen had closed, but we decided to have a few drinks and watch the game. the price for drinks is appropriate. shortly before the 2nd half was due to begin, they have called last commands! we decided not to order another and to catch the second half of the game at another place. the bar itself is pleasant, but the toilet is another story. a unisex toilet that was absolutely revolt. the smell of urin meets her as soon as they open the door. I would suggest in future that if they did not intend to remain open while they play to inform their customers about the fact. will definitely not be visiting here again!
We called in for a drink and some lunch ,which was OK, went to use toilets before we left for home ,they were filthy used to love this place ,we won't be going back ,disgusted
