Spent a lot of time in here today whilst waiting for a passport to be issued. Great food, loads of choice and very very very friendly staff. Thanks for feeding us. Xx
My son and I come here all the time and we think this place is downright fabulous!! Always freshly made, utterly delicious and the ladies here are so amazing and friendly. I love it here
I really enjoyed the atmosphere there; it felt lively yet tranquil despite being near the bustling Castle Street. The mix of customers, primarily suited professionals during my visit, added to the ambiance without overwhelming it. I ordered a quick French brie and cranberry sauce baguette, along with a reduced lamb and natural yogurt Vienna roll for lunch, and they certainly knew what they were doing. I was taken aback to find that the chic offerings came with somewhat steep prices, especially considering that most of the sandwiches from the deli selection—like the three cheese and arugula or the Stelton club (with beef, turkey, or chicken)—were on the pricier side, along with their gourmet selections featuring items like French goat cheese and other delicacies. While the service was pleasant, I was surprised that there were neither plates nor saucers available to properly dispose of my teabag, leaving it to sit soggily on the clean table. I ended up waiting too long to realize my drink wasn't steeped enough to add more tea, which was disappointing for the price of £1.30. On a positive note, I was impressed by the selection of greeting cards for sale—they seemed like an unusual addition, yet I found at least five I liked and even bought some wrapping paper! I plan to check out their Old Hall Street location next time and try one of their salad boxes; they looked fresh and delicious, with a crisp salad mix and a variety of simple sauces and meats, all prepared on the spot (and I appreciate that the staff wore gloves!).
Mangetout specializes in sandwiches, and they do a fantastic job. Like all top sandwich shops, the selection is vast and seems endless. Once breakfast is over, they offer breakfast rolls loaded with everything you could want for just £2.20 for a double meat extravaganza—a truly portable coronary treat! For lunch, the usual choices are available: cut rolls, white rolls, and salad bowls. They also whip up traditional favorites like cured beef with piccalilli, honey-roast ham with English mustard, brie with cranberry sauce, roast beef with horseradish, and coronation chicken with mango chutney. And that's just scratching the surface. Revealing all the menu options would spoil the fun of exploring what they have to offer when you actually step inside. The menu is nicely divided into categories of fillings: deli, club, gourmet, and hot. The gourmet section is especially tantalizing, featuring options like brie and avocado, hot speck with blue Stilton, goat cheese with roasted vegetables, lamb with reduced yogurt, chorizo with cream cheese, and pastrami with caramelized onion chutney. These are unique, delicious fillings that feel like a little indulgence for lunch—a real sandwich that you can hold with both hands. For warming winter options, they offer paninis and ciabattas filled with mozzarella, tuna melts, tomatoes with red onions, chicken breast, chorizo, and more. They even have simple jackfruit spins, salad boxes, and a soup of the day, ensuring there's something for everyone. The light snacks are freshly baked and rotate with the daily specials. The service here is excellent—fast, efficient, and friendly. Just be mindful during office lunch hours, as it can get quite busy; it's best to choose your timing wisely. And the prices are reasonable, with items starting at just £3.65 for gourmet sandwiches and around £4 for hot options. So why not pop in and check it out, my friend? And yes, I speak French—I appreciate the finer things in life!
