The Excelsior started off as an average spot, but I’m pleased to say it has transformed into a fantastic place to spend a few hours, particularly for sports enthusiasts. Traditional pub with a very good selection of real ales. sky bt sport also.
A pub that was once associated with the officers of the City Council In the heyday of the liquid lunch. Now known as a competitor of a famous Real ale pub next door but excelling against them since the lockdowns recently. A renown pub for Evertonians before the game or on TV whilst playing away from home. A pub worth visiting.
Great pub. Lots of charm and character and a good selection of beers with friendly staff
Food at the hub is amazing. Brilliantly priced. Great portions and a nice cheery place to be. Recommended

It wasn’t too busy when I visited, but I can imagine it getting quite lively later in the day, especially if a local team is playing.
