What Brian S doesn't like about Aquila Pizza Al Forno:
The pizza was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. With such a limited menu and using paper napkins, there's really no need for reservations. Just a heads up: if you call to make a reservation, no one picks up, and the answering machine states that they don't accept reservations for parties of three or fewer. Believe the hype! Tiny menu, big flavor. This is true Neapolitan pizza. Notoriously hard to get into because they’re never open! Always get the daily special- it may sound weird, but trust me, whatever it is it will be fantastic. BYO. Parking: Tons of parking just behind the place in a municipal lot Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
I had the weekly pizza special tonight: Jersey Tomato Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella, Crispy Speck, Fresh Garlic, Portobello Mushroom, Parmesan Reggiano, and Hot Honey! It’s one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted. Plus, the light and airy handmade dough is simply phenomenal. Be sure to make a reservation as soon as possible and thank me later in your posts. This place deserves 5 stars every time!

There are plenty of other pizza spots if you want to avoid the hassle.
I highly recommend Aquila Pizza Al Forno—it's now on my must-visit list whenever I'm in town. Although their menu isn't extensive, they certainly don't need a large one. My friend won a bet, and I'm happy to say that Aquila is now tied for first place with my favorite New York pizza. Everything we ordered was exceptional. The pizza is truly something to dream about, and the meatballs are top-notch, complemented by a delicious sauce. They make all their pizzas with homemade mozzarella, sea salt, and extra virgin olive oil. If you're unable to get New York pizza, you can't go wrong with Aquila in New Jersey.
