This coffee bar is absolutely stunning and contemporary. They offer vegan croquettes, toasts with beet hummus, vegan toasties, and acai bowls. The staff is very pleasant and you can also enjoy sitting outside in the sun. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Shakar:
My girlfriend, who is a vegetarian, really enjoyed the veggie tacos at this restaurant. However, we were disappointed to find out that they no longer have any vegan options on the menu. We asked if the Avo Toast could be made vegan, but even though they left out the feta cheese, they still included an egg. View all feedback.
The ambiance was lovely, the staff was friendly, and the menu was extensive with great vegan and vegetarian options. I had a great time dining here.

Shakar is my go-to spot — it’s literally right next door, and I come here all the time. The service is always top-notch. I absolutely love the staff — super friendly, warm, and just genuinely great people. There’s always a buzz in the mornings, especially during breakfast hours — it gets busy, but in the best way. Tasty coffee, good food, and a cozy atmosphere both indoors and outside. Do I recommend it? 100% yes! Meal type: Brunch Price per person: €10–15 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We are posting this review, with a certain reluctance, as Shakar Coffee have not replied to our initial email politely requesting some form of explanation. My wife and I went for Breakfast at Shakar Coffee in March 2023. We were highly recommended Shakar by friends, as well as, reading several positive online reviews. However, we had an extremely negative experience that we thought we should mention. On our initial entrance, we were really impressed, enthusiastic, and excited by the happy customers, and the delicious menu. However, we were ignored for approximately 30 minutes. From the very start, we were made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable by staff. There were at least four groups of customers that arrived after us that received their food and drinks before us. We thought about leaving, as staff members were looking at us as if we had done something wrong, but we concluded we should give the staff a fair chance. When our food finally arrived, it was cold, and our hot drinks were served almost cold, ie tepid. I am a qualified chef who has worked in several restaurants and cafes as a waiter, and cook. So when my wife told me her food tasted bitter, I was able to taste it and conclude that it was the sauce. A new group of several people then arrived in the middle of us eating our meal. The staff looked at us on our table, so I offered to move with our plates outside to finish our meal in order to let the group have our table out of goodwill. A staff member told me: yes and pointed to move, so we got our plates and started to go outside to finish our meal, when another staff member told us to remain seated. We apologised and quickly ate our food. As we left we thanked the staff team, and gave the two members who served us two euros each to show our gratitude. We, also, stated the food was nice to be polite. We can speak a small amount of Portuguese, and the staff member replied that they were so very happy that we liked the food, as the food was a part of them that they had given to us. We took this as a poetic phrase and said: thank you. Unfortunately, later that afternoon my wife suffered with severe food poisoning (diarrhoea and vomiting). It was the only food and drink she had eaten that day. She visited the toilet eight times, and vomited several times. After much consideration, we thought we should politely mention this, as we have travelled to many countries, and have not experienced such immediate prejudiced before we had even had an opportunity to present our good intentions. We are still so disappointed as we were looking forward to eating at such a popular restaurant, and as a former chef, who now works in entertainment media visiting great places with wonderful food is our favourite pastime. We have not spoken with our friends who recommended your restaurant to us, as we do not wish to disturb their enjoyment. We feel it is morally correct that we should share our negative experience.
