This restaurant was absolutely fantastic in every way. Upon entering, I felt like I was entering the garden of Eden. Beautiful greenery, fantastic atmosphere, incredible and very fresh food! The service was impeccable and we were recommended by our incredible waiter Hugo the best dishes to make the experience even better! Say hi to Kiko if you're there :)This place is truly a unique and one of a kind experience!

A Hidden Surprise – Fantastic Lunch Located down the narrow lane ways of Alfama, we accidently came across this restaurant with its picturesque and private courtyard entirely covered in a ceiling of bougainvillea. We arrived when the courtyard was quiet and just in time, within twenty minutes the entire place was bustling and alive with locals. Closely followed by a stream of disappointed hungry diners who looked to the sky for inspiration before heading off to find an acceptable alternative. Lautasco offers simple and traditional Portuguese fare with fresh fish and meats, unadorned vegetables and local wines. Don’t ask for the wine list. Its white, red, rose. Sweet or dry. Simple! This was an exquisite, inexpensive experience and became the highlight of the day. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a memorable Portuguese treat. Johnny Frey, Dublin

We found this little charming courtyard restaurant while walking around the area. Lautasco clearly caters to tourists, but we were pleasantly surprised and generally happy with the food. That said, the experience started a bit abruptly — as soon as we sat down, staff tried to upsell us on aperitifs before we’d even seen the menu, which felt a little too pushy. Service throughout the meal was okay, though not especially friendly or attentive. The highlight was definitely the fish — nicely cooked and full of flavor. While it’s not a hidden gem, Lautasco offers a decent meal in a lovely setting, especially if you’re not expecting anything too personal or refined.
