A combination of a traditional/gourmet shop with a bar/restaurant. You may choose in the shop what you want to eat or drink. You have excellent soups, salads, pies, desserts and a choice of wines, beers and juices. Also a good diversity of teas. The atmosphere is quite friendly and informal. View all feedback.

Erva Principe is a lovely small cafe in Ajuda, a quiet neighborhood close to Belem, location of the Palacio de Ajuda. The cafe serves excellent coffee, tea and juice, and an assortment of excellent pastries, breads and cheeses, in a cozy environment with friendly service. There is also a small deli in the back with many local products, including produce, olive oil and wine. A great place to relax and enjoy the ambience!

Set in a charming square in Ajuda, Erva Principe is not to be missed. Delicious homemade food with a gourmet flair. They offer a tasty daily menu with a healthy soup of the day and main dish. Also a good option for breakfast. The delights continue at the grocery store at the back of the restaurant.

We read about this little eatery/grocery store in TAP Air’s inflight magazine and decided to stop by during our visit to Belém. The location is not overrun by tourists and away from the bigger tourist traps and the food and service are great. Maria and her sister are happy to tell about the food and other products you can buy in their little shop and the fact that everything is sourced from local producers just add to the great experience. Definitely worth a visit!

Great local food and service! The combination of shop and café was brilliant, because everything they had in the shop they could serve you in the café! Delicious toast and pastries. And don’t leave without buying a bottle of Limontjero (local limoncello)!
