With huge soaring vaulted ceilings and stone arches, you feel like you are eating in a beautiful church. The restaurant is super luxurious with velvet chairs and sleek marble bathrooms. The food is not as luxurious, but it is certainly delicious, beautifully presented, and the prices are surprisingly less that what we expected to pay in such a refined and romantic setting in a 5 star hotel. Garlic and chili shrimps were exquisite as well as the soft shell crab tempura we had for starters around 14 or 15 euros each? and the super tender Pork Belly and rice with Cod that we had for mains were both amazing as well. both around or less than 20 Euros The coconut mousse desert was one of the best deserts I've had in awhile, rich in taste and freshness but not heavy, a great ending to the meal. The portions were honest sized for the price, not huge but definitely enough to be considered a real meal!!! We left perfectly filled and very, very satisfied and happy!!! The service was very attentive and pleasant, not over present but just right. The wine list is well balanced with some very nice bottles around the 20 euro mark and some excellent bottles priced as to be expected. Certainly did not feel that we were overpaying on wines and drinks in such a stellar location. It is now going to be our go-to place for relaxed fine dining on our own or with our friends!!

The restau... read more Criatura is one of the restaurants of the recently opened Verride Palacio Santa Catarina Hotel. Criatura is located in the ground floor of the hotel. The restaurant has a very stunning atmosphere with immensely high ceilings and a beautiful tapestry hanging on the wall of the main room which reminded me a lot of one we had seen in the Palace of Ajuda just some days earlier. Although the restaurant is relatively large, the set-up is quite intimate and the whole location looks perfect for both a romantic dinner of business lunch. The restaurant and hotel are located at the Miradouro de Santa Catarina and not to miss. Criatura just opened in mid-August 2017 and we had the pleasure to be there for dinner as one of the first guests. The menu at Criatura is relatively small (probably five starters, five deserts and ten main courses, split about equally between fish and meat) and based on a sharing concept. This means each dish comes on a separate plate (or in a separate pot) and can either be shared or eaten alone. We had the shrimps and codfish carpaccio as a starter and the seabass and suckling pig as a main course. All were excellent with the pig being my personal favorite. The staff is particularly attentive and friendly and we felt very well taken care of that evening. Criatura is a great addition to the Lisbon dining scene since it offers outstanding food in a truly remarkable setting. The prices fall into mid-range so count about 50 EUR per person. I would without doubt to check out Criatura and plan to return many times in future.
