The food was fabulous both times we visited. The staff were very helpful as I asked questions about gluten-free options. I highly recommend the Bacalhau a Gomes. It is a new favorite for me! View all feedback.

Iconic coffee place, best place to see people enjoying the simplicity of life with coffee and newspaper in morning till evening, this place also serves food and other stuff but the vibe is amazing as it is in a modern environment yet it has the auro of a historic coffe place.

A delightful step back in time! Confeitaria Imperial is a true gem, and it's easy to see why it has been a beloved institution in Coimbra for so many years. I was captivated by the authentic, old-world charm the moment I walked through the door. The decor, the atmosphere, and the a truly wonderful experience. I was fascinated to learn that Confeitaria Imperial first opened its doors in 1928. That kind of longevity speaks volumes about its quality and the role it plays in the community. You can feel the history in every corner, and it gives the place a special warmth and character you just can't find in modern cafes. And of course, the food! The pastries and sweets are divine—each one feels like it's made with a passion for traditional baking. The coffee was excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly. It's the perfect spot to relax, enjoy a treat, and soak in the rich heritage of Coimbra. If you appreciate tradition, authenticity, and truly delicious pastries, Confeitaria Imperial is an absolute must-visit.
One of the truly authentic portuguese cafe/ restaurantes left in Lisbon. They make their own pasteries, you will find a good variety of traditional portuguese treats, both sweet and savory. Their lunch menu has unique portuguese dishes that, unfortunately, are no longer commonly available in restaurantes, and it's very budget friendly. They have delicious coffe and still at a great price as well. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. I often hear turists say they want the authentic experience, and eat where locals do, well this is it. Go visit them, delight yourself and have a true, authentic Portuguese experience.
