All of us had seafood: grilled octopus, clams with garlic, and... read more We just happened upon this charming place while walking near our hotel. It was a wonderful find! All of us had seafood: grilled octopus, clams with garlic, and fried little whole fish resembling smelts (sorry, I don't read Portuguese so I can id our exact entrees on the menu). We had 2 bottles of Douro wine and dessert and the final bill was less than 25 euros each. Cantinho do Sol was better than any of the restaurants suggested by our tour guide. Our waiter, Lama, was very attentive and friendly, and the chef came out to say hi. I come from a fishing family on the coast of New England and can attest to the absolute freshness of all the seafood. IMO this was the best dining experience we had while visiting the area (Lisbon, Coimbra, Nazare, Porto and towns in between). My friends and I highly recommend Cantinho do Sol!

Order off the set menu and you’ll get half a bottle of wine along with a soup and a hearty main followed by coffee and desert. Head back to work with a smile on your face. You’re welcome. My dish was overflowed by the sauce. Overall it was great, Francisco was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing, very welcoming, very polite and professional. Not only with me but with the rest of the guests that night. I’m very touched and impressed with the amazing service of this man. 10/10 Price per person: €20–25 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
