Th... read more Best harbour view in Lindau! The extensive upstairs terrace was a delight at the weekend, in bright sunshine but with many large sunshades to protect diners. The terrace overlooks the harbour at exactly the point where all the ferries dock, so guests can watch the...skilled maneuvering of the ferry captains and check out the passengers from a 'bird 's eye view ' people-watching position. Beyond the pretty harbour and lighthouse, diners can enjoy watching sailboats and powerboats on Bodensee and gaze, from Germany, over to the beautiful Swiss and Austrian Alps on the south and east sides of the lake. Drinks and food are all reasonably-priced and the service to our large family group, from a nice blonde waitress, was smiling and efficient. The restaurant interior is cool and exotic, with a very distinct Turkish style. For those who do, colourful water-pipes are available with various flavours.

The view from the terrace out over the harbour with the Alps in the background is...second to none.

I a... read more Gorgeous Bavarian town on the Bodensee. Had no idea about this place and we happened to pick it out of the map on our drive back from Switzerland to Munich. I am glad we did pick this place. The Insel Lindau is a beautiful Medieval village and has lots of very interesting streets and architecture. It is mostly pedestrianised and I enjoyed walking the streets and exploring the tiny small streets and the little surprises in store in each one. I would love to come back and go sailing from here as the lake itself is huge and the largest in Germany and looks like a weekend of sailing is quite easily possible. If your are a visitor to Bavaria I would recommend a visit to this place as it is well worth it.

Food was... read more Great location if, like us, you're waiting for a boat from Lindau's picturesque harbour. And the cocktails were reasonably priced for this area anyway. Food was quite good, but when will operators like this recognise that they must accept credit cards. The world has...moved on and it is no good restraunters and others in places like Lindau, attracting international visitors to play King Canute and offend its customers by refusing the method of payment we now prefer. Shame they are just behind the times.
