I used to get tejas (pecans or lemons with caramel (manjarblanco) packed in sugar frosting) and filled lemons from Ica (Velazco), as I know them from my childhood and were the best I've eaten. there are a lot of tejas makers now but too many that use chocolate instead of the sugar frosting (not my taste at all....). Sra. Buendia makes those sweets in perfection and you can make sure they are fresh when you buy them.... View all feedback.
My hotel was literally on the same block as this store in Miraflores and what a find it was! Sweets I left for more. I tried all the flavors, but the lemons were my favorite and I bought a whole box to take home. They disappear quickly (and I am not generous to share with the family, so kick me to not buy anymore! Definitely will return at my next visit to Lima. YUMMY! (Cold that they don't take credit cards, so soles are ready in their hands.
We found the store on foot from Barranco to Miraflores. From curiosity we went in and tasted some sweets we had never seen before. Fantastic! The best were those with lemon and figs.
This place is great The Tejas are the best of all time. The product is not cheap but worth every penny. They have a variety of Tejas, all of them delicious, but my favorite is the Pecan.
Kept asking for them without luck, except for a famous name which sells even at supermarkets and it's only a shadow of what a good one should be..and then stumbled on this little shop on my way to the silver shops of Lima. They don’t have an enormous variety but what they have is divine, couldn't have enough. Either fruits or pecans covered with chocolate or sugar coat....awesome
