Eggspectation

Eleni was fantastic! We’re visiting from Virginia Beach, VA, and we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with our family.

The food at the restaurant was fantastic and fairly priced, especially in today's economic situation, and the ambiance was lovely. However, the service was lacking. It appeared that the staff were occupied with cleaning up after a busy rush, and there was a noticeable tension from the manager that affected the servers, even though the restaurant was almost empty at the time. I was seated promptly, but the service for everything else was extremely slow, making me feel somewhat neglected. I might consider going back to Eggspectation, but not at this specific location.

The waitstaff was unorganized and slow. During our first visit, the waitress seemed uncertain about her role. On our second day, we encountered a millennial who came across as entitled and seemed more focused on getting a tip than delivering good service. The eggs were delicious, and the pancakes were mostly enjoyable, but the potatoes tasted like cardboard.

Given how efficiently the kitchen operated with no customers, I was curious to see how they would handle the sudden influx of patrons when, on opening day, they were clearly not ready for this unexpected crowd. I walked in to find only a couple of tables left and no one waiting, yet they still made me wait for a hostess to seat us. After what felt like an eternity—20 hours might be a slight exaggeration, but it certainly felt long—we decided to leave. We knew that if the food came at a normal pace with no customers, it would take an eternity to serve us with so many people dining in. So ultimately, we chose to take our chances elsewhere.

This is my absolute favorite breakfast spot in Montreal. The food is incredibly tasty and fresh. If you haven't been here, you're definitely missing out! The owner is fantastic, and the waitstaff are exceptionally friendly and courteous. I truly love this place. We choose to stay at this hotel specifically because of Eggspectation!
