A little pricey but overall no dish we ordered has disappointed. Quality execution with some decent Hawaiian flair. Drinks aren?t cheap but at least they?re well made and don?t go light on the pours. Hula pie was a great finisher. Service has been good but not great, but more than what you expect for a touristy area. View all feedback.
What Joy Bella doesn't like about Duke's Canoe Club Barefoot Bar And Restaurant:
The restaurant was beautiful with indoor and outdoor seating. Our waitress was great and very helpful. The kalbi ribs were grisly and not the best. My husband had the fish and chips which were really good. View all feedback.

There are two parts to Dukes?s Kauai the lower area is a the Barefoot Bar and Restaurant and the upper level is the main restaurant. We went expecting to eat a late lunch early dinner in the main part but it doesn?t open until 4:15 so we sat in the Barefoot Bar. The food and service were excellent. We both had the special of the day which was Loco Moco a hamburger patty topped with a fried egg. It is beautifully decorated and open to the outside. It was a bit breezy the day we were there but still a very enjoyable meal. There is free valet parking in back (which is where Google maps directed us) and then you take a walkway down to the restaurant.
Barefoot bar is the downstairs restaurant. Google maps will take you right to the valet parking area (if you want to self park don't go up the hill). Nice open air eating (you know, covid) which is great (open air dining, not covid). Solid coconut shrimp and poke tacos. Tasty entree.live singer at dinner on the night we went. Chill vibe. Easy to get reservation. All good.
I found dukes to be disappointing! We had lovely servers, everyone was nice and helpful. But food was OK and VERY expensive. I live in Seattle, a very expensive city, and I could have gotten an insane and lovely experience for the price we paid. I think for 6 of us (a couple people got small apps for their mains and no one got the bigger ticket items, and we all had one drink) came out to over $325. So over $50 per person for small portions of mediocre food plus a well cocktail. Didn?t feel authentic, didn?t feel local, didn?t feel elevated. Just odd, very touristy obviously and really felt like resort food. We all got sandwiches a couple hours later at our hotel haha. That being said the space is pretty and everyone was nice. I think having cocktails at the bar below is the move over having a ?fancy? dinner.
It?s a decent tourist trap. Great for a first night arrival. Food is fairly decent, staff is super friendly and the drinks are about what you?d expect for your typical hotel resort spot. There are far better places but there are far far far worse places so if you want a good starting point for your vacation then Dukes is your place. Also the ocean view is awesome!
