Visited Curborough visitors centre and found the very lovely Mabel’s Tearoom. Wednesday, midweek 12:30. Deciding on a coffee we made our first attempt to be served. There was a very long queue, service seemed slow so we went for mooch around the garden centre. On our return, the queue was a little better and we did manage to get served. This may be an indication of how popular this ‘off the beaten track’ tearoom is? Mable’s has a nice atmosphere, good choice of food ranging from snacks, meals and a wide variety if cakes, not too expensive, plenty of seating. There is a note on the menu to warn there may be a wait for food at busy times. More of a leisurely lunch than fast food experience, which suited us on this occasion. We were pleased with our experience. A small group of ladies were having an afternoon tea as we left and that looked very nice. We enjoyed our visit to Mabel’s but its not the sort of place you can pop into if you are in a rush!
Visited this morning with my partner. We chose a table and I went to order the food.20 minutes later I got to the front of the queue after negotiating the many children in Halloween costumes wanting separate lunches.Surely a buffet or pre arranged food should have been provided for a big extra activity like that rather than hold everyone else up.I was served by a very abrupt member of staff who then had till problems holding things up even more. Eventually the food arrived which was lovely food but the wait was unnecessary and unacceptable. Won't be hurrying back.
