Restaurace Zlatý Kohout - Liberec

I’ll start with the positive: the service is very good. The waiters and waitresses are kind and want to help. Unfortunately, this restaurant has stopped its high quality menu and moved to fixed price buffet only, 7 days a week. The food has gone from high quality original meals to Czech canteen style: meat, sauce, potatoes. “Out” are tasty cream soups, “in” is Czech hovezi soup, standard in every Czech middle school canteen. They are clearly offering package deals (room plus meals) to older German tourists, and now they just don’t really care about high quality, original food. If overpriced Czech canteen food is your thing, you’ll love Zlaty Kohout. If you want a quality dining experience, go elsewhere. Liberec has so few high quality dining options, pity Zlaty Kohout isn’t even trying anymore. Avoid.

Excellent 5 star food. Giving 2 stars for such a horribly long wait with no explanation, between the soup course and the main course. The head server was very nice and professional!

I 'd like to share a truly horrible experience with this restaurant that we encountered last night. Business dinner, reservation for 6 people. First of all no one knew we were coming. OK. The waiter set the table for us. We had to work out the table placement ourselves, the dirty chair was replaced with a not so dirty one and we expected a standard level of service (adequate for a four star restaurant . However, it did not come. The list of fouls would be longer than the space available on this site. Just a few of them: each and every order (soup appetizer, entree, coffee, dessert was not delivered correctly. the waiter brought us one type and size of glass (for red wine for different drinks (Sprite, Ice tea, beer sort of a one size fits all the table was not set at all for dinner (no cutlery, no napkins we had to ask for them repeatedly ; I expected linen napkins (four stars!!! but we only got basic paper ones a bottle of white wine (not cheap 32 EUR was brought already opened , the waiter did not wait for the taster 's approval but started pouring the wine into the bottles immediately a plate of steak landed on my shoulder, the waiter pushed the steak to the middle of the plate (with his finger and served it back to the table and so on and so forth ..... And finally. I ordered a non alcoholic beer. They brought me a bottle of the brand I ordered (Heineken . I drank the bottle and started to feel something was wrong. And there it was. The beer was fully loaded . Can you imagine my shock being allergic to alcohol, the only driver? To make a long story short. Last night was my worst experience with any restaurant ever. That 's why I 'm giving ZERO stars.

Delicious meal polite personal amazing atmosphere. I would recommend a visit.

Great environment and service. also wine was very delicious. restaurant is a little pricy thought. three course tasting dinner was ok and nicely served but nothing special to return here regularly.
