The noodles were very good as well, although my 9-year-old found the kimchi a bit too spicy for her taste. It was actually quite mild, but she thoroughly enjoyed the fishcake and noodles. My partner had the Bimbimbap and said it tasted great, although he wished it had been served hotter. One thing worth mentioning is that it was definitely on the harder side rather than sunny, which was a bit unexpected. Overall, I would give this place a solid 4.5 stars, rounding up. Just a note: the restaurant is quite small and has a bit of an echo, which can be uncomfortable when there are loud conversations—my child needed a reminder to keep her volume down a few times.
We arrived at Jy about 30 minutes before closing and inquired if it was too late to be seated. The owner warmly welcomed us and served us with great enthusiasm. The food was all delicious, but the dumplings and pajeon were truly the best we've ever had at a restaurant. If we lived in Lexington, it would definitely be a go-to spot for date night for my wife and me.
Whew. Finally had dinner from JY Kitchen after living nearby for a year. It was incredible. Hot. Delicious. Flavorful. I can't wait for another dinner maybe next time while sitting on the patio of Pivot next door! Visit their website before dining orders and indoor seating done via text.
Tasty food, especially the pan fried dumplings! Those crunchy bits were glorious. I had the beef bulgogi, which was delicious with the side salad, rice, and miso soup. I also loved the kimchi and pickles! The udon noodles were very good, though my 9 yearold had trouble with the kimchi spice level. It was pretty mild, but she killed the fish cakes and noodles. My husband had the bibim bop, which he said tasted great but could have been hotter. The egg was also hard rather than sunnyside up, so you knowwhat to expect. I'd say 4.5 stars rounded up. Note that the place is quite small and echoes a bit, which can feel awkward ifsomeone else is clearly on a date and your kid has to be reminded about volume a few times.
