What Don C doesn't like about Cook's Barbecue:
Drove way off the beaten path to Cooks as the reviews looked promising only to be let down by average Q. Should have requested outside brown but neglected to do so and ended up with a lightly smoked plate that fell short of expectations. Nice portion of spare ribs that were perfectly cooked though and good to see they use spares instead of St. Louis style ribs. Great Cole Slaw and Onion Rings but the other sides were... I recently tried the best barbecue I've ever tasted at this restaurant. The service was excellent and I was extremely satisfied. I highly recommend giving this place a try, as you won't be disappointed. The prices are also very reasonable.
This restaurant is still a favorite among locals, and is hidden away in the woods. Without GPS, it may be difficult for non-locals to find. The building looks like a house that has been expanded over time. The interior is cozy and the staff is friendly. The menu is extensive for a small place, with tasty options like half-inch puppy balls and delicious sweet and BBQ flavors. The only downside was the turkey, which was deli sliced instead of smoked breast. Stick to the other meat options, like the smoked sausage. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be returning.
This restaurant is a hidden gem that is definitely worth seeking out. Thanks to a friend who knew about this quaint BBQ spot off the beaten path, we were able to experience true southern hospitality at its best. The food, service, price, and ambiance were all top-notch. The hush puppies were especially delicious and addicting!
During a recent visit to town, my husband and I decided to check out this restaurant based on a recommendation from our Airbnb host. The service from the waitresses was excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the salad bar. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. My husband was pleased with his BBQ dish, and my ribeye was cooked perfectly. Everything was served piping hot. We will definitely be returning to this spot in the future.
I always enjoy visiting Cook's restaurant. My family lives nearby in Linwood, so we like to drive down and meet them for dinner here. I especially love the BBQ at Cook's, but my favorite is the beef brisket. The first time I dined here was during a business trip to Lexington. I ordered a coarse chopped BBQ plate for lunch, and as I was finishing, a lady came out and offered me a sample of their beef brisket. I was instantly hooked. It's always a tough choice between the beef and pork, sometimes I indulge in both. Though it may be a bit out of the way, tucked away down a dead end road in the woods, I believe it's well worth the journey.
