While the exterior could... read more Fantastic new spot in Lewiston! I visited with some friends, and a family member recommended this new Japanese restaurant called Sea40. While the exterior could use some improvement, stepping inside felt like being back home in New York. The decor is stunning, and there's plenty of space, from the bar area to the sushi and hibachi grill tables. The prices are reasonable, and the food is excellent. This has quickly become one of my favorite places in Maine, and I’m excited to see how they establish themselves in the Lewiston area!

We took our daughter there to celebrate her 10th birthday, and once we mentioned it to the chef, he made the entire meal a special occasion for her! It was fantastic. Highly recommended!

I'm baffled by its popularity—perhaps it's the... read more My friend treated me to lunch for my birthday today at Sea40, and unfortunately, it was my first and last visit. I'm baffled by its popularity—perhaps it's the hibachi grill during dinner, but lunch left a lot to be desired. I ordered the steak teriyaki with steamed rice, and it was nothing like any teriyaki I've had before. Having lived in Hawaii, I know what authentic teriyaki tastes like, and even the Japanese fast food at the Maine Mall food court is far superior! The miso soup was terrible, and the salad was equally disappointing. The rice tasted like it came from a box. I barely touched my meal. The server's attitude was unwelcoming, and I was surprised there was no acknowledgment of my dissatisfaction—typically, some form of compensation is offered in the restaurant industry for such situations. I can't believe my friend paid for the meal and even tipped the server $10 on top of that! My friend also didn't enjoy her meal but chose not to speak up. Overall, we experienced poor food, bad service, and an uncomfortably dark atmosphere. It was not worth our hard-earned money.
