I've been here a few times, and each time I've enjoyed my meal. Their serves are huge, and really well priced. Last time I went was on a Sunday for a friend's birthday. We were given a dining room to ourselves, and were each given a Sunday roast meal for around $16 pp. once again, the plate was piled high. They have daily specials, lots of kids meals, and on Thursdays they have an Indian themed special. Great for that casual walk in meal.
I'm a regular at JP's Kitchen in the Huntsbury Hotel Lewisham. I walked in off the street one evening feeling hungry and in search of a steak. From that night I was hooked and I've been back many times. JP/Jeanette is a good operator. She serves a regular menu of your typical pub grub. Her steaks, schnitzel and fish dishes are reliably good and her portion sizes are generous. I've lost count of the number of times I've heard people request for something to be added or deleted from a dish; JP's reply is always the same, "No problems, I can do that". JP does themed nights: a regular pasta night and a regular Mexican-themed night. My favourite is the Anglo-Indian curry night. I've had amazing beef, fish, lamb and vegetable curries served Thali style with pickles, papadum and roti. I've declared the beef curry to be the best thing I've eaten in months, only to be then bowled over by the fish curry the following week. I keep an eye out for specials that appear from time to time. Finding southern fried chicken that reminds me of eating in the US isn't easy in Sydney. JPs fried chicken manages that delicate balance of being moist inside with a crispy crust. There is just the right about of peppery heat in the seasoning. JP works hard to deliver a consistently good product. She's interested in feedback about the food. I wish I could cook the range of things that she bangs out week after week. If you live locally and you feel like a night off cooking, try curry night on a Thursday.
Had lunch here on the recommendation of a friend. glad i did. the chilli chicken wings for an entree were superb and had the chicken terrine with roast veges for a main. cooked to perfection and the price was very reasonable. i am told the indian curries are really good so i will give them a go next time. if you are in the area give JP's a go, you wont be dissapointed.
