The Mozza burger and Dill Pickle soup will not disappoint, I've always had great food and service at Honkers Pub. Live music on the weekends is a good time as well.
JUST LIKE YOU; i was working in town and had to spend the night so i asked the mighty google where the best food in town was. I see honkers 4.7/5 across 31 ratings i says ya thats the place. Almost there driving i thought ... theres a good restaurant here..? I walked in and was greeted promptly and served then i ordered a honkin golden burger (not good for digestion btw and ill be damned if that 14oz. Monstrosity wasn 't maybe the best meal ive ever had. I used to think i made a good burger but im gonna have to step up my game. Definitely the best burger and fries anywhere.. and ive been looking;
We were recommended by a friend to eat here as they regularly come for breakfast on a Saturday. Maybe we should have gone for breakfast instead of an evening meal. The experience we had was just awful! In fact I would go as far as to say this was by far the worst meal I have ever had! On arrival, the place seemed a little grubby looking and in need of an update. The staff behind the bar were not very friendly, stand offish and after standing there for a while we finally managed to get the attention of someone who looked at us as if to say what do you want! It was not that busy but service was slow and I felt uncomfortable at times as though we were an inconvenience. My husband ordered the fish and chips, which was nothing special, fairly bland. I had the steak with fries and seasonal veg, which was terrible!. The steak was a little over cooked, although I do have it blue/rare and that turned out not to be such a big deal as I couldn't eat it anyway.It was sooo salty! It tasted like I had just had a mouthful of sea water! The fries were burned, dry and cold. The seasonal veggies, were cold, bland and watery like they were frozen or came from a can. The server could obviously see that the meal was awful as she stood across the room and kept looking at us and mentioned to the colleague next to her that I wasn't eating it...she did not come over however, she just stayed across the room watching. My husband finally forced all but the last part of his meal down and then went over to find the server, so we could pay and leave. He told her it was the worst meal we had ever had and she then reluctantly did not charge for my meal...which remained completely uneaten on the table behind and we left. I don't usually write bad reviews for anything as I believe if you have nothing good to say, you should keep it to yourself. However I feel in this instance it is my duty to inform fellow diners of our experience in order that they do not waste their hard earned money on such terrible food.
Great home cooked food. Amazin open jams Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Friendly staff and customers
