Called in lunchtime on a walk which took in Les Eyzies. The place unpretentious but comfortable, with an attractive conservatory in which to eat. Straightforward food and wine. My wife and I each had perfectly cooked mushroom omelettes, walnut salad, with a decent glass of...red plus coffees. They offer quite a wide range of meals. Good value at just under euros. Attentive service. View all feedback.
What Gilbert Hamon doesn't like about Brasserie Alexandre:
Horrible service. No airco. Lots of wasp and flies. If you just want a drink it's not appreciated. Do not speak English very well. No high chair for baby. Very expensive food for a place like that. Better spend your money elsewhere. View all feedback.
Luckily our first choice for a meal was closed in Les-Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil was closed this afternoon. I say luckily as we would have never found the Bar Alexandre had the first restaurant been open. We were able to get a delightful meal on Bar Alexandre's lovely terrace. Alexandre will welcome you with fabulous service and an excellent menu featuring many local specialties. The Plat du Jour menu with an entree is only 11 euros. The five of us (2 adolescents) ate for 40 euros. My daughters loved the kid's meal and the pizza. The service provided by the owner Alexandre set this apart from any dining experience I have ever had in France. This also outlines one of the major failings of Tripadvisor as Alexandre's place is ranked 22nd out of 26 restaurants in Les Eyzies but all of the reviews are extremely positive. Give it a try and I am certain you will have a wonderful time.
Found by chance..wonderful glass enclosed dining area..excellent service..varied menu..liked very much.
We ate here with friends on the last night of our holiday. three of us had the dish of the day, and what excellent value it was! Smoked salmon, steak perfectly cooked with home made fries and vegetables, and the most delicious nut cake and apple tart for dessert. A glass of wine was included in the price-amazing value! One of our party had pizza, followed by a cafe gourmand-coffee with a selection of bite-sized desserts. Can't recommend the Bar Alexandre highly enough, and Alexandre himself served us. he could not have been a more welcoming and gracious host.

We went here today with adults small children just to grab a drink an appetizer. After we sat down read the menu we relized they didnt really have any small appetizers that we would enjoy so we just ordered some...drinks. The owner got so pissed off. Started removing silverware, cups, and the paper placemats then threw the bill on the table. Never said a word to us again, but did give us dirty looks while he sat across from us eating his lunch.
