We dined at La Table when the menu was restricted to Savoyard only. For our pastis aperitifs we were ushered into the main lounge of the Hotel Alpen Ruitor, which is all in wood, with high ceilings painted with stags and ibex. As seemed appropriate we chose a traditional fondue Savoyarde which was excellent. Unusually we drank red wine with the fondue and enjoyed a very good Fitou. For dessert my creme brûlée was flamboyantly set alight at the table! My partner had the cafe gourmand which had a wonderful array of mini desserts. Altogether a really enjoyable experience!
Now that the Cro Magnon next door has changed hands, we thought we'd try La Tablee, and weren't disappointed. The food is more refined than the Cro, and although the portions are not gargantuan, the quality and sophistication makes up for it. More fine-dining than rustic, and highly recommended
Treat yourself! Meribel does not have many fine quality eateries despite it's reputation as a high quality ski resort. However , all the menus change infrequently which is a crying shame for people staying for more than six days. Le Cêpe is no exception but it's consistent high quality food encourages diners to go back to try another menu option . Expect to pay for the privilege but you will likely leave having had a great evening of food. The husband and wife proprietors are a delight . Give it a try!
As always, a very friendly reception. Had lobster salad tonight. Couldn't have been better. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Meribel - and open in Summer!
