Warm, delicious, and cozy are the three words that come to mind when I think of our regular haunt, Germania, and its Greek owners. Of course, this isn 't a Michelin-starred restaurant, but rather a restaurant-pub with good, traditional German cuisine and fair prices, where you can feel comfortable after work.
I visited the Germania again after a long time. It used to be legendary for its schnitzel. These days, the smoke drifting into the dining area is a bit bothersome. The food is still good and reasonably priced. The service is friendly. We'll come back, but with lower expectations.
Our favorite Greek restaurant in Leonberg. The bifteki is a dream; the gyro plate – whether large or small – is delicious and a generous portion. The service has always been excellent, friendly, and helpful – ouzo to finish off the meal is included, as are small desserts for the kids. We love coming to the restaurant, whether inside or outside. It can be a bit noisy outside as it's right on the street. Every now and then, you'll see Eltinger posers driving by in cars or bikes, or the bus line, but overall, we've always been comfortable sitting outside for longer periods. Inside, there's a smoking and a non-smoking area, separated by glass doors. Depending on the type of guests and group size, it can be noisy at times – but otherwise, the atmosphere is incredibly cozy, a la taverna. We highly recommend the Germania.
We weren't impressed. Schnitzel with fries was tasty, but it's not the kind of food I go to a Greek restaurant for. Gyros are only available on weekends (unfortunately, we went on a Tuesday... , and the other Greek meat dishes were very, if not extremely, fatty. For my taste, the lamb, for example, was almost inedible. We won't be going there again.
