The Shake-n-dog - Lenoir

We decided to try out the $1 Tuesdays special at this restaurant. After being disappointed by the generic hotdogs I had tried at other places, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotdogs here. My wife and I both ordered the "all the way" hotdogs with chili, mustard, onion, and slaw for just a dollar each and they were delicious. I also tried the Memphis hotdog with bacon, BBQ sauce, and cheddar cheese, as well as the Jamaican hotdog with mayo, jerk sauce, lettuce, mango, and jalapenos, both of which were full of flavor without being overpowering. My wife enjoyed her hot hot hotdog with french onions, hot sauce, and slaw. To top off our meal, we savored a scoop of cookies and cream ice cream, which was some of the best I've had in a long time, even though I'm not usually a fan of ice cream.

It is more efficient to list the items they have rather than those they are out of. It is frustrating to order something only to be informed 7 minutes later that they are out of stock. It may be good food when it is available, but I would recommend avoiding this restaurant until they improve their restocking process. In an update, I waited 20 minutes for a hotdog, which was still incorrect when served. The restaurant was not busy, yet my french fries were colder than a February rainstorm when they finally arrived. This meal was incredibly disappointing.

I was thrilled to discover a locally owned gem for lunch. The owner is friendly and has a fascinating story behind the decision to open a hotdog and shake shop. The staff is also very welcoming. But the real star here is the food - every specialty dog I've tried has been outstanding. My top picks are the Chicago Dog and the Space Dog. It's definitely worth the short drive into downtown Lenoir to experience The Shake-N-Dog. Say goodbye to corporate fast food and hello to this delicious spot!

We used to go all the time. Unfortunately, something has changed. The staff now looks sloppy, no uniforms, no hairnets.Yes some wear hats not all do, perhaps during our multiple visits we have had hair in our hotdogs including this past weekend my brother had hair on his. (Gave us an excuse hair can come in already on the product. Saw staff wipe their hands on jeans instead of washing and drying them. Staff member was observed touching his face running his hand through his hair then proceeded to make a milkshake. No hand washing after doing so. If you watch you’ll see what we see. The food is good. Hopefully, things will/can change.

Hot dogs were pretty good, but a little messy. I ordered to go so the dogs were wrapped up, but that's on me. I would eat in next time. Good, friendly service and the food very good. Parking is a bit scarce, but if you're walking in town pretty easy access. Definitely recommend a dog or two.
