Amazing place to chill, enjoy a cold beer and the wooden atmosphere. I especially liked the waiter Teddy and the smoking lounge concept. Didn't get any food, but it smelled damn good
Had a wonderful experience on both occasions that I visited. Ate Breakfast, rather large portions, loved the blood sausages. Dinner was great and the Dirty Dhillon Burger was outstanding. Excellent beer and some really good Whiskeys. It was our second time there and the experience...was as good as the first time. Will be back!
It actually pains me to write this review. My husband and I visited Dhillon 's Irish Bar Grill a few days ago and had a perfectly nice lunch out on their terrace. There was almost no one there, so service was fast and friendly and...the food fish chips for me and Cottage Pie for him was pretty good. In fact, it was good enough that I wanted to eat dinner there last night, since I had seen a couple of other items on the menu that appealed to me. When we approached the pub last night, we decided not to sit outside because it appeared that it might rain and it was crowded. Evidently, that was not the right thing to do, even though we saw two ladies eating at an inside table and a guy eating at the bar. We sat at a table and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, figuring that maybe it 's like the UK and you have to order at the bar, I told my husband to just go tup there and order. So that 's what he did, since no one seemed interested in waiting on us, nor did anyone tell us the inside was closed. I also saw no evidence that the staff, particularly the bartender, was weeded . If they had been very busy, I could understand having to wait. But no one so much as suggested that we kiss their arses. The very rude bartender who had been completely ignoring us while chatting with his buddies said in a loud, curt tone of voice, For future reference, we have table service. I think he might have mentioned someone would help us, but no one ever did. We never even got menus, nor did the bartender invite us to take two from where they were stacked on the bar. It was obvious he didn 't want us to sit in the dining room, even thought it didn 't appear to be officially closed and he never told us it wasn 't open. My husband shrugged and came back with two beers, one of which had no head on it whatsoever. We really should have just walked out, but we decided to drink the beer and see if the service would ever materialize. It never did, so we stood up to pay for the beers and go. A waitress who had passed us several times and never said a word then finally asked, Alles okay? I said in a flat tone of voice, We 're going to leave. No comment. No apology. Almost complete apathy from the staff. What a pity. My husband paid ten euros for this treatment, and he was practically seething as we left, which is not something he does lightly. I don 't know if the rude bartender with the faux Viking vibe and the flowing locks owns the bar or if he 's just an assh*le with a bad attitude, but at this point, you couldn 't pay us to go back there. What a shame. I 'm just glad we didn 't visit today, since today is his birthday. And... lest anyone think I 'm just a crank, have a look at my reviews. It 's not often that I leave one star ratings. We were completely appalled by the bartender 's attitude, as well as the total Twilight Zone indifference from other members of the wait staff, at least one of whom waited on us the first time we visited. Fortunately, Morrison 's Traditional Irish Pub is just around the corner. We went there and were promptly waited on with a smile by a hardworking staff. We gladly rewarded them with a generous tip. Dhillon 's should take a lesson from them or... perhaps just close down. I see from other reviews, we weren 't the only ones who have been treated this way. Seems an odd way to run a business, particularly in a city that offers a lot of good restaurants. Aside from rude behavior and non existent service from the bartender, I also noticed during our first visit that the ladies bathroom was in poor shape. One of the knobs on the sink appeared to be malfunctioning.
Food, drinks n ambiance was so amazing...a must visit for all foodies...watched a football match...atmosphere so lively
I found this bar and grill next to my hotel while I was looking for dinner. What and very pleasant surprise. So many places serve a Guinness and call it an Irish Bar. Dhillons is a full on Irish Bar. From the food to the...drinks to the atmosphere. I had Budweiser served on tap to drink (not the same as the American one). I enjoyed the fish and chips for dinner. My stomach is full and my pallet is happy. I will be back and I am already looking forward to it. You should ask to try the mead when you are here. It is very tasty.
