Staff unmotivated and not service oriented. Waitress said all tables near the window are reserved. But most of those tables very empty even when we left. The waitress didnt really have an explanation for that other than they were still reserved. Very weird behaviour. She didnt even try to appologize or deliver any logic explanation.
Easy to find the Leipzig’s Augustus Square, in front of the Gewandhaus and the University is Brasserie-Restaurant Augustus. This is a proper place to eat or have a drink before or after a concert. In the summer it has a large terrace with a nice view of the square, people passing by and adjacent buildings. We came for dinner before a concert and were generally pleased with the food and the attentive and friendly service. The French goat cheese salad with apricot and the classical tomato soup were very tasty. The Wiener schnitzel with potato-cucumber salad and the sliced veal liver with fried onions and potato-herb puree were fine. The home-made ice-cream was made well-tasting desert.
The setting was very nice and we had high hopes for dinner. We are allergic to milk, so we avoided ordering anything listed with cheese, milk or yogurt. We were surprised when our beef came covered with cream sauce, so we sent it back. Fortunately, the staff fixed this and brought us a fresh plate without dairy. The staff then told us that our salad had dairy in its dressing. We also sent the salad back, but the staff did not fix this, so we went without a salad. UNFORTUNATELY, WE WERE BILLED FOR THE SALAD THAT WE HAD RETURNED! I HAD A HUGE ARGUMENT WITH THE MANAGER WHO INSISTED THAT I PAY FOR THE RETURNED SALAD. Finally, I prevailed and did not pay for the returned salad.I would recommend to all---avoid eating here, Leipzig has many good restaurants whose staff is more willing to please its customers.DO NOT DINE HERE.
We chose Augustus primarily for location,in Augustusplatz right beside the Gewandhaus concert hall, and because it's attractive, with large windows and a stylish interior. We walked in before a concert and were dealt with in a friendly and professional manner., including English. The menu offered good options. My smoked salmon marinated in orange was excellent, served with a dash of chilli oil which worked perfectly. It was simply delicious. Being 'spargel' (asparagus) season, I chose the speciality served with hollandaise sauce, potatoes and traditional schnitzel. It was all surprisingly light and very enjoyable, with pleasingly contrasting textures and tastes. The recommended wine match was good. Overall, a good choice.
The restaurant is just 2 minutes away from Augustusplatz. Inside, it's pretty dark at night, but this makes a romantic atmosphere, with the small lamps at each table. The food is very good but the prices are a bit high. Not that high, but above the average. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

As I have a great preference for eating, I have long visited various restaurants in Leipzig. one of my favorites is happy now. I had never had any bad experiences there and had always gone out of the last with a smile. also for vegans are enough dishes on the map. top!
Very tasty burgers and the pommes taste like themselves. we are very happy to go here, but always try to book. in the evening it is very full so that they do not always have luck and get a place. the burgers always taste great, whether with chicken meat, bark meat, as vegan or vegetarian variants. the personal is friendly and does not try to notice the stress. a little less beautiful, it's quite loud noise.
I find it is one of the best restaurants in leipzig and I am always happy when I go there and bite because the staff is very nice and friendly and competent. I hope I will go to dinner again and then I recommend what I have done, and so on.
