What NormaQ doesn't like about Food By John Lawson:
We were somewhat disappointed with our experience at the restaurant. Our table was located right by the door, which made it unpleasant every time people came in or out. Additionally, the wine was not left on our table, resulting in us having to ask for it. At the end of the night, two of our glasses were cleared away with some wine still in them. We had a lovely meal. There was a mix up with our booking so we had to wait 45 minutes and there was no cheese left at the end of our meal. This was a shame as all the courses were superb and staff good. We have already recommended for our friends to make a booking and we hope to return soon.
Great concept but food was ok. At this price point and brand placement I was expecting a restaurant aspiring to a Michelin guide audience. This isn't close in my opinion (Its my review after all), cool cabbage several ways didn't do it for me but the wine pairings were great. Top quality dining shouldn't automatically mean tiny portions but these were, and on their way to plain mean (one oyster, thumb sized portions etc). As the cliché goes, I had to eat again on the way home.......
