We came in the end of the day right before Thanksgiving. So most of the deserts were already gone. So I can't speak about the donuts or cheesecake that we had hoped for. But Steve made us some sandwiches and entertained my kids with cool colored glasses for the lemonade. And for a finale he served some *amazing* handmade ice cream that was just delicious. Great breakfast, owner is in wheelchair but you wouldn't know it. doesn't keep him from doing anything. love eating there.
We visited just before Thanksgiving, so by the time we arrived, most of the desserts were already sold out. Unfortunately, that meant we couldn’t try the donuts or cheesecake we were looking forward to. However, Steve prepared some delicious sandwiches for us and kept my kids entertained with colorful glasses for their lemonade. To top it all off, he served us some *incredible* homemade ice cream that was absolutely delightful.
I was very disappointed with my experience. The hamburger tasted like it had been microwaved, and the chips were served in a tiny cup. The gentleman in charge seemed quite grumpy, although the young girl was doing her best. I usually like to find something positive, but it was clear that the gentleman didn’t want to be there. Additionally, the bathroom had a foul odor and was lacking hand soap.
As you look through the menu, you’ll find that the prices are quite reasonable, and the dishes have a nostalgic feel, with familiar items that offer a unique twist compared to other places. On my visit, which was in the mid-afternoon, I ordered a gyro while my husband opted for a Reuben, along with two sides: potato salad and coleslaw. What’s truly remarkable is that the owner himself came out from the kitchen, stood up, and prepared our orders. He personally makes everything, and taking a bite of the potato salad transported me straight back to my childhood. We invited him to join us, and we had a wonderful conversation with this intriguing man who has a delightful dry sense of humor. If he’s not too busy, I recommend inviting him to chat with you as well. The food was absolutely delicious, and he mentioned that people frequently ask about the ingredients in his dishes—it's definitely worth asking! Give this place a try, and be sure to tell him Lynne sent you. Don't forget to save room for the homemade ice cream and, if he's not sold out, the homemade pie. Lastly, be sure to ask him about his room in the back!
We have been here multiple times, yes multiple times. I have given this place chances, as the food use to be decent. Portions are super small, only got a half a piece of toast, economy... I get it. We gave it one more chance after a long trip to the library, and two screaming kids saying they are starving . After eating, I asked the waitress if she got to keep her tips, she said no, and that she hardly gets paid enough. All the money goes to God I think there should be some kind of proof, seems rude of me, I know, but waitress work hard, and the owner/cook is not Mr. Personality. Something does not seem legit, he underpays, and takes the tips. The back of house should be reason enough for the place to be shut down. After a restroom trip, there are opened razors sitting right outside the door on the water heater. Loved my waitress though!!
