Have visited the Toby at Oulton and as usual the food was good quality and a good selection. Our waitress Courtney was fantastic, she was courteous, polite but also very funny joining in with our conversation. There was however one downside. What 404alanj doesn't like about Toby Carvery:
The food at this restaurant was excellent and there was plenty of it. The meats were all cooked to perfection and served with a generous amount of vegetables and sides. However, the atmosphere left something to be desired. It felt more like a school cafeteria than a dining establishment, with children running around and causing a lot of noise. It was hard to relax and enjoy our meal with all the commotion going on ar... View all feedback.
Have visited the Toby at Oulton and as usual the food was good quality and a good selection. Our waitress Courtney was fantastic, she was courteous, polite but also very funny joining in with our conversation. There was however one downside. We decided to have dessert, and I wanted something with ice cream, so I picked Youdel which was ice cream with apple pieces and toffee sauce. What I failed to notice was that it came in a yorkshire pudding. When it arrived myself and my friends could not stop laughing, having already had a yorkshire with my dinner I really did not need another one. The ice cream was great and I tried a small piece of the pudding but I have to say in my opinion ice cream and yorkshire pudding do not go together. Lesson learnt.
Absolutely fantastic great service by Mel seated straight away food was lovely and no queuing. Had a lovely time and would recommend again to anyone
As a lovely treat mum booked us a birthday breakfast at this restaurant. Arrived and firstly no eggs. No eggs for breakfast. Seriously? Then they ran out of potatoes l, just as we walked in. We asked for more and the chef just said we ain 't doin ' no more . 45 minutes before breakfast ends. So now we 're 2 items down. Tacky last minute printed pieces of paper stuck up regarding the eggs. Staff almost non existent, tables dirty and uncleared. Not even a mention of a discount or any kind of recompense for a sub par breakfast. If it was the first time I wouldn 't be so annoyed but this is the second time now. I will never go there again and to avoid any potential disappointment I would advise anyone else to go somewhere else.
Food lovely as always, we had lamb, beef and pork dinners for the family. Lucy W looked after us really well, attentive and kind!
We visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening. The carvery section was untidy, with food spilled all over and limited vegetable options. The beef was extremely tough and not enjoyable to eat. When the waitress inquired about our meal, I mentioned the issue with the beef. The response was that I would only be charged for a vegetarian carvery, without even being offered an alternative. Unfortunately, this negative experience has left a lasting impression, and we will not be returning to Toby Carvery in the future.
