This charming bar is located in the bustling area of Meanwood. It has a spacious frontage that gets plenty of sun in the afternoon. The bar offers a wide selection of beers and lagers. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Definitely a place worth checking out. View all feedback.
What Odinsson Ragnarok doesn't like about Alfred:
Seems the current manager cares nothing about the customers, or the beer being served. It has gotten really bland over the recent years. No effort into mixing up stock at all. Bland as Bland can be, gone from the main place to be in Meanwood to the one you go to when the local tory club round the corner closes. Absolute shame given the strides previous managers had taken. Great little bar. Very friendly staff. Updated June 2022 still a great little bar. Excellent beers quality atmosphere. Civilised and quiet. UPDATE February 2023 still going well and still a great place for a drink. Excellent cask beers on a regularly changing rosta with regular guest ales. All this is in addition to the range of North's own (quality) beers. Updated November 2023 you should go to this bar. Excellent beers, great staff. Pleasant atmosphere.... Remains one of the best local bars and my personal favourite in Meanwood. Good cask offering. Always plenty of choice for other beers lagers and porters. Great atmosphere, looking forward to returning to Alfred for years to come. Update March 2024 one of the best bars in the area and in my opinion the best bar in Meanwood. Always a pleasant welcome from friendly staff. Great range of beers including local cask options always a couple of North's own cask offering. On keg, a good range of beers, cider and lagers. Interesting cans from the fridge. They do toasties now and have links to local restaurants for eating in. My only gripe is that yapping dogs are over tolerated nothing wrong with well behaved dogs owners, but some owners think the world loves their dog regardless of their behaviour. Not everyone having a pint wants barking dogs in the background. Three barks and you're out should be followed through.... STILL a great little bar. Highly recommended, always a good range of beers including local cask options. Light food options now various cheese toasties. They still have tie ups with local restaurants on various nights you can order food to be brought in for you. A very friendly place to drink, pleasant staff and never any troublesome customers! Looking forward to seeing outdoor seating once the road works have finished.

Incredibly friendly staff. Hannah was absolutely lovely and patient answering all my questions as I do not know much about beer, she made sure I did not even have to get off my seat to get another beer. One recommendation I got and I will not forget was pastore sour. At the end of my visit I even got a few cans to go home. The only small downside is that the chairs seem to be falling apart and now I have to be strategic about where I sit. Nevertheless, this bar it is now my to go place in Meanwood.
Beautiful little bar in Meanwood with fantastic staff
Great bar with friendly staff and a superb craft beer selection. Small enough to have an atmosphere even when quiet and always something going on. Manager
