Description

Guaco Taco delivers a mix of standout and uneven experiences. Its shrimp and fish tacos, fresh crispy tortillas, generous gluten-free menu and acclaimed margaritas draw regulars, while attentive bartenders and a shaded, mistered patio add to the appeal. Service and portion consistency can waver, sauces and coleslaw are sometimes sparing, and chips and utensils feel cheap. Delivery preserves crunch, but some dishes underperform for the price. Overall, a clean, family-friendly Austin spot with strong drinks and GF options, best approached with tempered expectations.

I love their fish tacos. Or should I say I used to. For around $4 they used to give you a big piece of fish. Flounder. So tasty! But someone thought it was a good idea to cut that ONE piece into 3 tacos. No. That?s nuts. Inflation hasn?t gotten that bad. They have an awesome jalapeño ranch sauce but it is a fight to get enough sauce from them. They want you to eat 2 tacos persauce. And the coleslaw is also tasty. The same thing. It?s a battle to get it. This was my go to spot because I?m gluten free.I?m so sad upset.

Decent but nothing outstanding. Unless you like strong drinks. Wife says they make the strongest Capitan and coke ever and she likes em strong, so high praise indeed. Chips and queso were good but chips were mostly small pieces. Not busy at dinner time ona weekday. Shrimp taco was good if a little to much citrus flavoring shoestring style fries were really good. My wife enjoyedher quesadilla. Portions are not super large which honestly is refreshing. Large covered patio with some games.

The tacos here are fantastic! I tried the Certified Angus Beef Steak, which was delicious, and the Meat Monster, which was excellent! My wife ordered the Fish Taco, and she really loved it. We also sampled the Chips and Sauce Sampler. The chips were great, and all the sauces were tasty. They offer some unique options for the area, like Hawaiian and Jalapeno Pepper Ranch. The Hawaiian sauce is quite sweet, but after a few bites, you start to notice a bit of heat. Surprisingly, the Hawaiian sauce ends up being the spiciest of the four!

This restaurant is fantastic! Their tacos are outstanding, and the tortillas are fresh and crispy. I frequently order delivery, and somehow the tacos always remain crispy, no matter how long it takes for them to arrive. I do wish the green salsa had a bit more heat, but overall, this is definitely the best taco spot in the area.

This restaurant seems to thrive mainly due to the lack of competition in the area. With no other options available, people end up here. The chips are Tostitos, and they serve you plastic-wrapped to-go sporks instead of real silverware. However, the prices don’t reflect the quality of the experience—$85 for a family of four is quite steep. They’re just one decent restaurant away from going out of business.
