Friendly atmosphere, good menu and a decent wine list. We had an excellent evening and there was something for all the family.
Le Vivier-sur-Mer, situated on the coast between Cancale and Mont St Michel isn't a significant tourist resort, so the only non-French people who find themselves in this area are probably there by accident, or looking for a place to eat or sleep.Being in the former category, we found this restaurant by (fortunate) accident. There's nothing ostentatious about the place, and many would pass it by with the belief that perhaps the food is on a par with the décor.Nothing could be further from the truth. The restaurant serves excellent home-cooked fare at a price which no-one could grumble about. The service is very efficient, and judging by the number of local customers, it is well-patronised.If you're around and about this area, this place is worth a visit.
We stopped by for dinner early in the season in May. It was filled mostly with locals and felt very homey. We were seated by the window and had a lovely view. We both had oysters (a dozen for 13 euros) which were excellent. The entrees were good but not very exciting. We had a seafood soup and trout. The service was excellent and we had a good time.
Pretty boring restaurant with pretty pale food. Good service though. The dessert (creamer brûlée) tasted to much burnt.
We came upon this by accident, hungry after leaving Dol de Bretagne rather late at 2. The waitresses were friendly, found us a table and brought us drinks promptly. My last lunch in France so ordered the moules a la creme and they were wonderful! Nothing flash but great service, lots of locals, plenty of parking and an all round pleasant experience.
