3 visite in 7 days and we stayed 40 minutes away so 100% worth it. Relaxed and very rustic. think sandy flip flops and salty fingers from the beach. Simple sautéed shrimp and some of the best frites in France. One of our favorites in Medoc. We don’t go out to dinner in this area anywhere else and this is the ONLy place we go. With kids or with friends. c’est super!.
What User doesn't like about The Gam'Guette:
the gam'guette, an institution in the verdon in August. It's mostly the only one to offer us fresh gambas or rather it was because, yesterday, much of the gambas served were coming out of the conlo! The welcome is always great but the frozen gambas with the pastis is disappointing. Hope it's an accident. View all feedback.
Okay, let's start from what's good: Crevettes, oysters and the surroundings. If you can get one of the outdoor tables, it is stunning (you must fight for them! . In less. Problem is that the frits that come with the crevettes are really bad (pre cooked frozen I guess, and this in France is not something that you can easily forgive and the bread that comes with the oysters is the worst supermarket bread you can imagine. Prices are very high, you can not simply spend less than 40€ per person and with this cheap service and plastic harness is not something that can be forgiven. Could be much better with some improvements. At the moment it is not completely recommended. Ah, reservations are obligatory, but very hard not to get because they are always booked, but because they rarely answer the phone! And they also ask to confirm the reservation a week before going, add another worry when you travel. Few wines, not so good.

We went twice in a week and we loved the food, location and vibe. Some patience is needed as the service is not great. Lots of waiting required. Everyone turns up at restaurant open and there are two waitresses to cope with the crowd. We waited an hour the second time before our order was taken. Our order was only taken after frantic waving to one of the two waitresses and then the order wasn't taken correctly. We would still definitely recommend if you're in the area as one of a kind. Remember to take cash as the don't take credit cards.
