View all feedback.

Le Glajou was a real institution and a traditional restaurant until the beginning of the 2000s. It was so well known for its Cuisine du Marais and its signature dishes of grilled aalen over vines (anguilles grillées sur sarments de vigne) and the frog legs with garlic and parsley butter (cuisses de grenouilles à la persillade), its custard from the Marschlands (Flan maraîchin) as a desert. You were really a treat! I knew Le Glajou at his flowering time and enjoyed it for years without failure. Then there was a change in property and successive boss(s). His reputation sinked into spiral. Mouth on Earth reported negative estimates of his kitchen. We went back and stopped eating in Le Glajou, as he was really the end of his reign over the Vendée-Marschlands. Nothing to compare with the old call. Then the new boss and owner Alexandre Caetano took over the old lady. He restored the old recipes on the menu and A la carte. Nevertheless, part of the negative reputation remains, but is supported by those who gave no chance to the NEW Glajou. Like the Phenix, Le Glajou is now reborn to its former glory. Try their signature dishes with a red wine from Fief Vendéen and you will have a pretty good idea to be transported to the past in the old tradition of local cuisine, near extinction. Try it, you won't regret it! GARANTEIER!
This restaurant is a bit away from the beaten route, as a new street Challans connects to St Jean de Monts. The food is French with traditional Vendée specialties, aale cooked over an open fire of the vines, for example. But there is also a lot of choice for the less risky. There is a selection of three menus, different prices and a la carte. There is a nice quiet atmosphere in an attractive dining room. Food is well presented, well cooked and served by friendly attentive staff. There is also an outdoor dining area
