What lordofthestrings86 dislikes about The Java Break Cafe:
This restaurant does not offer any vegan food options. The baked goods include eggs, and all grilled items contain meat, eggs, and cheese. The only potential option for vegans might be the cereals, but they are fortified with vitamin D derived from lanolin. View all feedback.

The drinks they offer are quite good, and their smoothies and scones are enjoyable as well. However, the staff often seem irritated by my presence.
I absolutely love this place! I moved to Lawrence in 2016 and have since moved away, but I make it a point to visit whenever I'm back in town. I always get their mocha chai with the mocha whip—it's fantastic! This place is truly special.
LOVE IT. But they're vultures in the parking lot so beware.... they DO have cold brew.
Love this place and the options they provide. Especially their nitro coffees! Wish they were open late like they used to be <3 Thank you Java Break for being an AWESOME hangout spot! Vegetarian options: Had options for nondairy folks! Dietary restrictions: Had options for nondairy folks!

Java Break has a charming atmosphere, and was one of the first coffee shops I visited in Lawrence. Their baked goods are always fantastic, and I enjoy their sodas and seasonal apple cider. The service tends to be amazing, though I did get snapped at once by one of the employees for not speaking loud enough when ordering.
Delicious beverages and pastries—-just like I remember from the mid to late 90s while at KU. Same owner and exceptional service persist.
Charming, locally owned coffee shop that perfectly captures the spirit of Lawrence. Great espresso, a nice variety of coffees, and welcoming service.
I used to come here all the time during college around 2006. I visited again recently, and it still feels just as familiar, still serving the classic Julep. It brought back a lot of great memories. A fantastic spot!
The Java Break Cafe is a true local treasure. Even though I'm long beyond my college years, this would be my top choice for a study spot. I adore the outdoor seating, and the staff never fail to be exceptionally friendly. The interior has a charming, quirky vibe. My go-to drinks are the Lieutenant Dan and the Choco-Mel Cold-O-Matic.

Whether its 5pm or 5am, need a quick snack or a drink? Or a meal? Or a chill? I've dined-in and did take-away a million times during my life here and between the delicious food and beverage options on their menu, to their old school (antique-relic decorof old-timey cereal boxes and antenna era TVs playing cartoons from the old days, the cereal bar (YUM!!! to the comfy boothsthat after a long night of DoorDashing its a bit too easy to order a yum yum and go snoozin' on hehe The best part of thisplace is THE FREE SPEECH ZONE where you can paint the walls with your imagination!!! ALL OVER THE PLACE (EVEN THE RESTROOM ! Oh,there's some beautiful history painted all over the free speech zone : This place is honestly my favorite coffee shop diner inthe world, and i've been to countless.. i'm a little biased because i love Lawrence for everything that it is- but this placejust holds a very special place in my soul!
The restaurant has a distinct atmosphere, and I was happily surprised by the delicious drink I ordered—a chamomile tea with steamed milk and house-made lavender syrup. However, I do wish the seating arrangements were more comfortable.
Have you ever come across a cereal bar? This place features an impressive array of cold breakfast cereals, alongside warm dishes, vegan selections, muffins, cookies, and a range of tasty smoothies and coffee beverages.
I absolutely adore the staff at this restaurant! The drinks and baked goods are amazing. The cookies and scones, in particular, are incredibly delicious.

This restaurant does not offer any vegan options, as noted by other reviewers, and the staff seemed unsure when questioned about it.
